Hitting Kickers

I’ve got a snowboarding weekend in Zermatt coming up in a couple of weeks. The season has barely started so I’ve been keeping a close watch on the snow forecasts and the web cams.

I thought I’d share these with you in case anyone else is heading over, and give me easy access to the links.

Zermatt Webcams
Zermatt.ch has got a Zermatt webcams overlayed on a piste map. Very useful.

It looks like last week they must have either got the cannons out or had some snowfall. Compare these shots from Wednesday and Thursday last week!

Zermatt Snow Forecast

Snow-forecast.com is undoubtedly the best ski weather report site out there, offering breakdowns of 3 and 6 day forecasts at 3 different heights on the hill. Check out the 6 day Zermatt forecast (may require a log in; if so try the 3 day one).

Technically, I’m actually staying in Cervinia which is closer to Turin airport and a lot friendlier on the wallet. Cheap flights from Stanstead with Ryan Air, and then hiring cars to get us there. Did the same trip this time last year and looking forward immensly to this one.

Updated: This page is bloody useful for seeing what runs and lifts are open, especially useful this early in the season. The snow is falling, only the wind can stop us now!!
