Electric EG.5 and EG1 goggles: what’s the difference?

UPDATE: I’m selling I just sold a pair of EG1’s on ebay but you can still buy them at Boardshop.co.uk

I bought a pair of Electric EG1 goggles online back in February, just before my last trip as it turned out. Unfortunately the postman must have nicked them, as they never arrived.

Electric EG1 goggles

I phoned up the website and got another pair sent out which I picked off the site whilst on the phone to them which they duely sent with no extra charge, though they didn’t arrive in time and as such I’ve never used them. It seemed also, that I’d picked a different model… the Electric EG.5’s.

What’s the difference you ask? So did I the other day. Turns out the .5’s are exactly the same in every way but are for smaller faces. Anyone that knows me can tell you that I have a big head (physically if not metaphorically).

So, 8 months down the line I can really expect a refund from the good people at bargainboards.co.uk so went hunting on ebay, and picked up the pair seen in the photo above for £43 today, roughly the price I paid for the (still never used by anyone) EG.5’s. These badboys usually retail at around £70-80 BTW.

So… I’ll be sticking the .5’s on ebay soon and will post a link shortly. Great goggles by all accounts. Here are a few reviews and links:

UPDATE: The new goggles arrived and were exactly the same size as the ones I already had. I dropped Electric a line to ask how to tell the difference. They got back to me with the following:

> There is a simple way of distinguishing the two goggles:
>
> EG.1 Volt logo is decentred. It sits above the left lens.
>
> EG.5 Volt logo is centred. It sits in between both lenses.

So, I had EG1’s all along! #*&!

Pair 1 will be on ebay soon. Grrr
