Cervinia opens for the season

The 2007/2008 ski season has started at Cervinia in northern Italy. Acording to the Cervinia website, the season runs from 27th Oct (today) until 27th April 2008.
It’s a cracking little resort that borders Zermatt and is famous for its views of the Matterhorn. With the glacier at Zermatt, a joint lift pass, and some serious altitudes, you can be guaranteed some pretty good conditions early and late season.
News from Brueil Cervinia Valtournenche:
NEW ARTIFICIAL SNOW SYSTEM
Two new pist with artificial snow in Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche.
In Breuil-Cervinia there is a new artificial snow system on the pist n. 5: 11 sumps for having the snow for more or less 75.000 mq, for a length of 2.640 m and a difference in height of more or less 400 m.
In Valtournenche the artificial snow system will be present on different pists 82-4-6-7-10-12-16): there will be 120 sumps for having the snow for more than 270.000 mq, for a length of more or less 8.300 m and a difference in height of more or less 1.100 m.
I’ve got 2 long weekend trips booked for early December to get the season underway, and may pop back towards the end of the season. Can’t wait.
