Just rocked back here to post a quick message. I’m off for one last snowboarding trip this season, heading back to trusty Cervinia. Should be a good trip. The snow is looking awesome for this late in the season.
Trying to load up this site, I was greeted with a PHP error that […]

An awesome week snowboarding in Serre Chevalier last week. Finally getting round to post about it. Here’s goes.
After a few large group trips, this was going to a small, hardcore, flat out snowboarding trip with just 3 of us in total.
Day one started at 3am in South London with taxi followed by bus […]

I’m going to Serre Chevalier for a week in early February, having booked up this week. I’m going with two friends who started snowboarding at the same time as me more or less, and who I’ve snowboarded more with than anyone else. This time we’re leaving our girlfriends at home, and planning on […]

I’ve just had the pleasure of back-to-back weekend trips snowboarding in Cervinia.
Cervinia shares a ski area with Zermatt, which has a glacier that’s open for skiing all year round, so you’re guaranteed some snow even early season. Fortunately early season this year is of epic proportions in terms of snow right across the Alps. […]

A new, organic freestyle / freeride run is being installed at Avoriaz for the new season, scheduled for Jan 08. The Stash at Avoriaz will feature a shedload of natural hits, rails and gaps and can be reached via the Prolays 6-pack chairlift.
There’s a pdf map of the course up on the Rude Chalets […]

This is a guest post from Paul at Alltracks Academy, who provide Ski & Snowboard Instructor Courses in Whistler.
Like many snowboarders & skiers, I began touring for one simple reason – to hunt powder. Quite frankly, the thought of walking up steep mountains just didn’t seem that sensible when you have gondolas, cable cars, chairlifts, […]

One of my trips in the coming season might be to Whistler. I’ve heard some awesome things about the conditions they had there last season, and everyone I know that’s been there has nothing but great things to say about the place other than the lift queues can be pretty bad at times.
Well, that […]

I’ve decided to go to Val Thorens for what will be my final snowboarding jaunt this season. Planning a week from the Easter weekend. Have been once before, so have an idea roughly where I want to stay. This map has been really useful.

The plan is to stay […]

Well, technically not a full weekend, but have just come back from a day on the slopes at Les Arcs.
After months of hassle with lastminute.com trying to sort the tickets out, we booked onto a Eurostar from London to Bourg Saint Maurice leaving on Friday evening arriving 6:30am Saturday, before heading back to London at […]

Sad news of a British woman dying whilst heli-snowboarding on the Zermatt glacier.
The 33-year-old woman fell as she skied at high altitude down a glacier on the Swiss-Italian border.
Police in the Valais area said the woman fell 15 metres into the crevasse at 3,060 metres above sea level.
They said she was among a group of […]

I stayed in Morzine for 10 days over New Year and got most of my snowboarding in at Avoriaz. Here’s the trip report I’d been promising.
After an overnight stop in Geneva on December 28th, we got our transfer to Morzine first thing the following morning. We checked into our apartment and those of […]

With the cold weather finally upon us, not much real snowfall to speak of and the busy Christmas holidays to deal with, isn’t it about time we saw the snow cannons in action?
Morzine today is starting to resemble the golf course it was looking like a couple of weeks back. The snowfall was short-lived […]

… that’s what it takes to get the slopes ready for us to use when the winter comes round, acording to pistehors.com.
One of the consequences of climate change is that snow depths are thinner, particularly at the start of the season. Snow canons can be used to lay down base but they are costly to […]
