Burton “For Right or Wrong” movie review
Burton held a party at South London’s Clapham Grand last night with a showing of their new movie “For Right or Wrong“. That’s my neck of the woods, so I went along.
The movie is more of a documentary style film than an out and out snowboard movie in the traditional sense.
It’s more or less 2 films interspliced; film 1 covering the US Olympic snowboard team on their way to the 2006 winter games, film 2 showing a few of the Burton riders doing their thing.
For me, I could have done without film 1 all together. I saw the Olympics and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle, but getting all up and close with the competitive nature of some of the riders simply wasn’t interesting for me.
It really just reinforced that I’d rather watch my friends doing stupid stuff on their snowboards, falling over and most importantly having fun, than watch these pro riders competing at the highest levels.
Film 2 as we’re calling it was somewhat better, with some adventurous jibbing and massive air, amazing scenery and some old fashioned pissing about.
Ultimately, I would watch it if was on TV but certainly won’t be buying the DVD.
Also at the event were a few of the pro boarders that appeared in the movie, who showed up to sign autographs. There were also some prize giveaways, though I’d gone by the time that was going on.
All in all, maybe a good event for some, but I’d tend to agree with what Adrenalin Trip member Reverend Jim Jones had to say.
