About this snowboarding blog

Wednesday, 01. 4. 2006

This site started life as a ski equipment reviews website back in Jan 04 I think. To be honest, it was crap. As a capitalist web geek, I was trying to earn a few quid for very little work, and plastered ads all over a minimal (no) amount of useful content.

The site paid for itself, but only just. It was certainly the least profitable website I’ve ever built.

Sometime in early 2006 I decided to reinvent it as a snowboarding blog as I started getting more and more into boarding, whilst retaining its ski review slant. In practice, it didn’t start earning any more money - perhaps even less.

Now, in October 2006 as I write this, I’ve (almost) given up the idea of actually making any moolah out of this, but am starting to get into writing about snowboarding, posting up useful links and generally indulging my love of boarding in any way I can without actually doing it. Living in the UK and working full time means I will only ever get a few weeks in each season, so this helps pass the time.

Why “HittingKickers.com”?
That’s a question I’ve been asking myself recently. As far as the snowboard jungle is concerned I’m much more a powder hound rather than a park rat, generally much more at home hunting out powder stashes in the off piste than pulling spins off kickers bigger than me. HittingKickers just sounded good to me at the time when I was revamping this site. Maybe I’ll change it again one day.

Anyway, I hope you find something useful here or otherwise enjoy the site. Please comment away if you have anything to add, find anything useful, disagree with me, or whatever.

Enjoy!
